Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 Fulham - the look back
Another loss on the road quells any top 10 dreams - for now.
It was just one of those days.
Fulham lost again at Molineux on Saturday - a ground they’ve not picked up a league win at in nearly 40 years.
It certainly didn’t look like that would be the outcome at half-time. The Whites - in their black and pink strip - commanded the first half and Wolves had Jose Sa to thank for keeping them at bay. When the Wolves shot-stopper failed to, we didn’t capitalise; Harry Wilson blasted wide and Tosin rattled the crossbar.
The missed chances gave Wolves what they needed. They went ahead through Rayan Ait-Nouri, seven minutes into the second half, before they added a second when Nelson Semedo'’s shot ricocheted off Tom Cairney, wrong-footing Bern Leno.
We grabbed a consolation at the death when Alex Iwobi hooked one in from a yard or two out, but it was too little too late on the day. Onwards to the Cottage and Spurs as we continue our mission to free ourselves from the purgatory of 12th. You Whites.
What they said
Marco Silva: Some great saves from Jose Sa, but with the chances we had, you expect the ball to be in the net. We have to be clinical and ruthless at this level, we weren't and we were punished by those mistakes.
Alexi Iwobi: We had a couple of chances to be clinical, but unfortunately it wasn't the case. They took their chances, and our goal at the end was a bit too late. It's definitely an opportunity missed.
Dan Cooke: Easy to overreact after that, especially given how bad the first 20 minutes of the second half were. However, on a different day we win that 2 or 3-0, and that’s football. Very disappointing, and Marco probably got it wrong, but no need to be concerned in my opinion.
